Bolshevik Cultural and Business Center Reaches Finals of the Regional Stage of the UK’s Civic Trust Awards

November 7, 2016. The Bolshevik cultural and business center, owned by O1 Properties, has reached the finals of the regional stage of the prestigious Civic Trust Awards.

The Civic Trust Awards are a British institution, rewarding projects, which make the greatest positive contribution to the development of local communities. The jury takes into account the social, cultural and economic significance of buildings and their impact on the quality of life in the areas that surround them. The regional stage, which includes UK and international projects, is the first round of the Awards,  and this year 128 projects were selected from nearly 250 submitted applications. The winners of the international stage will be announced on December 15, 2016.

The Bolshevik cultural and business center is a renovation of the former Bolshevik confectionery factory, located on Leningradsky Avenue in Moscow, which was built in the late 19th century by the French architect Oscar Didio. The three main buildings at the site have cultural heritage status. The renovation, designed by the British architectural firm, John McAslan + Partners, restored the original appearance of the historic factory buildings and transformed the site into a modern class-A cultural and business center open to the public. A landscaped area the now links Leningradsky Avenue to adjacent Skakovaya street via the site and a museum of Russian impressionism has been opened in one the buildings. The development has already won international recognition, including prizes at the Moscow Times Awards and International Property Awards.
