About Earth Hour
Earth Hour is an annual worldwide event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Scheduled on the last Saturday of every March, the Fund’s initiative encourages everyone, including individuals, organizations, schools and businesses, to turn off all non-essential electrical devices with exception of elevators for one hour to take an action against climate change and build a global community committed to resolving challenges posed by increasing global electricity consumption.

WWF-Australia together with The Sydney Morning Herald organized the first-ever Earth Hour in 2007. One year later the event received international support, and in 2009, it became the largest global public event in history with over a billion of supporters according to WWF.
